The Writing Process
Every good book starts with the idea. Prewriting includes that idea, but also plotting to the end, so you know where (and how) the story goes.
Starting to write is all about the creative process. You write it without worrying about the details, for now. You will revise and fix problems later. Focus more on getting the story told, and using the revision and editing stages to fix problems later.
Many writers go through more than one revision, but this stage focuses on improving the writing. This can include anything from improving character and plot development to line edits for grammar and spelling. This stage wraps things up for your writing, to make sure everything is complete and ready to publish. This stage definitely includes line edits and fixing grammar and punctuation. You also compile the story in its completed form, with correct formatting.
Publishing choices comprise from submitting to magazines, periodicals, or publishing houses, to self publishing with print-on-demand, or ebooks.
The marketing phase takes place any time through this writing process as you wish to build your audience before you publish. Once you are ready to publish, you must consider your book launch. After you publish, you can work on ongoing marketing strategies.
